Richer Unsigned Session – May
Last month saw two unique artists grace the Melomania stage, and while they couldn’t be further apart from a sonic stand point, both share incredible levels of the talent we strive to champion!
First up was London-based pop singer/songwriter Bryony. Originally get her start writing acoustic music, she eventually grew bored and wanted to shake things up. A moved to London for Uni and a chance meeting with a producer saw her flip her sound to electronic pop music and she hasn’t looked back since, although we did get to witness a rare treat with her performing an intimate stripped back acoustic set! Being selected as our Artist Of The Week was an unexpected delight: “I didn’t think I’d get picked! It’s been really amazing, and this (Unsigned Session) has been the best part!”
Bryony tells us she has new music on the way very soon, so keep your ears open!
Next up was Bristol’s Run Logan Run. This duo of insanely talented musicians mixes free jazz with ambient soundscapes and huge, hypnotic drums to create a sound that is far bigger than you’d imagine could come from just a saxophone and a drum kit. Using a huge array of loop pedals and effects, saxophonist Andrew created wild pitch-bending atmospheres whilst drummer Matt hit the skins with a wide array of sticks, bells and… a pineapple! While their set with us was slightly abridged, we highly recommend checking out the recent The Delicate Balance of Terror to see just what this group is truly capable of
As always, a big thanks to everyone who came out to support the bands, and a massive thanks to Bryony and Run Logan Run for sharing their talents with us!
