Greg Poole is our Artist Of The Week! Hailing from Stoke-On-Trent, Greg crafts guitar driven indie-pop, with inflections of rock thrown in for good measure. Greg’s distinctive voice drew us in upon first listen. His song “Morning Light”was a good example of a powerful, melodic chorus that left you humming it all day! Have a listen:
Birmingham’s Rosie Tee straddles the contrasting worlds of alt-pop, rising UK Jazz & contemporary classical. Colour and image are at the centre of Tee’s lyrical writing, depicting imagined scenes and scenarios. Her sound is inspired by that of Laura Mvula, Björk & Anna Meredith.
Rosie gracefully weaves melodies over infectious rhythms that instils head bopping upon first listen! Every phrase leaves you wondering what will come next, with twists and turns keeping you engaged until the very end. Check her out on our Fresh Finds playlist.
Oxfordshire’s Abi Farrell was raised on a wide range of female-driven music from the likes of Aretha Franklin to Chaka Kahn and Eva Cassidy which led her to start writing her own songs at age 14, blending carefully crafted melodies with her rich, soulful vocals. Since moving to London in 2017, she’s graced the stages of such storied venues as Jazz Cafe, Spice of Life and The Camden Assembly.
Abi’s control and vibrato of her incredible vocal tone is truly stunning, so it’s no surprise she’s an in-demand independent artist, with lyrics that range from empowerment, independence and dealing with anxiety. Our favourite track is “Ivy”, taken from her recently released debut EP The Only Way I Learn, which you can check out below:
Promises Promises are a truly underground band, eschewing traditional labels and management, preferring to oversee their careers in more DIY hands-on methods, producing all of their music in their bedrooms with only laptops and a handful of mics – which is music to our ears here at Unsigned!
This Bristol-based trio draws from a diverse pool of influence, which helps keep their electronic pop sound fresh and interesting. There’s a clear strain of dance/EDM running through the production, but the addition of guitars and live drums adds a layer of organic depth that adds dimension to the music, especially when the band performs live.
The band has just released a video for their newest single “Material” (which you can check out above), but we’re also in love with “Fired Up”, a full-on 4/4 freight train that has echoes of classic trance stabs and big booming kicks that will have you sweating off November’s chill in no time:
