Artist Of The Week: Year of the Dog
Our next Artist Of The Week is Year of the Dog!
A new beast has been discovered, smashing the festival, radio and TV circuits alike, going by the name of Year of the Dog. The fresh brasshouse-soul sound from Cardiff was born at the Royal Welsh College of Music from where they recently graduated. Packed with brass-blasting punch, professional suave, and high energy, the Dogs are selling out gigs and rising fast.

In their first year alone the fellas were invited to play festival MainStage slots, perform live on Heart Radio Wales twice, and appear on Netflix’s Sex Education as the Swing Band, performing their own hit tune ‘Run These Streets’ in season 1, episode 3. Check out ‘Run These Streets’ here:
If you haven’t seen this fantastic band live already, you are in for a treat! Their tunes are some of the most danceable music we’ve heard. They are all experts at their instruments, creating a tight, hard hitting ensemble with the sky as their limit.
The dogs of Year of the Dog are;
Felix Lindsell-Hales on vocals and guitar.
Jacob Prescott on bass.
Luke Hartley on drums.
Olly Jenkins on vocals and saxophone.
Peter Richards on Bass Trombone.
Gareth Thomas on Trumpet.
The dogs will be playing festivals such as Noz Stock (mainstage) and In It Together Festival (BBC Horizons stage) in 2022. They’ve also just had a talk on the BBC Radio London Upload show about their latest ‘This Ain’t Over’. Expect these lads to fly any time soon!
