Artist Of The Week is Ellie Moon
Our Artist of The Week is Ellie Moon
Liverpool-born, Madrid-bred, London-based musician Ellie Moon returns with new singles and an EP. It’s hard not to fall in love with her quirky melodies, razor-sharp humour, and words that evoke the everyday and mundane to create her own unique brand of hits. Think of Ellie Moon as the lyrical and melodical love child of Jarvis Cocker and Gwen Stefani. Ellie may look like your bubble-gum girl-next-door, but she has an attitude not to be messed with.
Listen to her latest single, ‘Don’t Date Me’, here.
The energy Ellie creates on this track is clever and current – a modern take on early Lilly Allen and Kate Nash. The inspiration for this song was a string of weird ‘situation-ships’ that left her feeling like nobody would ever want to go out with her ever again. So, instead of feeling sorry for herself, in true Ellie Moon fashion, she decided to write a song and turn her feelings completely the other way. She imagined the lyrics as a series of self-aware text messages she was sending to a so-called ex, acknowledging and highlighting how rubbish it is to date someone as indifferent and selfish as her alter ego.
