Artist Of The Week: Charlie Tyler

Our next Artist Of The Week is Charlie Tyler, a twenty-something-year-old English singer-songwriter. Raised in a tiny Cornish village, her childhood passion was mainly sports until she went to an Ellie Goulding concert at 16, an experience that started her music dream.

After first learning the Ukulele and singing at local fairs, Charlie taught herself guitar and then piano. Songwriting quickly became a passion despite her lack of official training. She started performing live as soon as she could find someone to let her play. Inspired by classic artists like Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morrisette, and Carole King, Charlie aims to produce modern pop music influenced by those magical performers.

After meeting songwriter, producer and creator, Russell James Williams in April 2021, the two became a writing partnership that instantly blossomed Charlie’s sound, providing the perfect platform for her beautiful, haunting vocal style. Her first EP, ‘With All That Lonely Held Inside’, was released in early October, quickly followed by her second, ‘Surrender The Ghosts’, in December 2021.

Already armed with a rich catalogue of dynamic, heartfelt songs, Charlie began recording her debut album in January 2022. Bursting with the freshness and originality only self-produced music can bring, her first-ever recordings signal the arrival of a significant new British pop artist, destined to conquer the world.
